HURRY: can it live?

My firefish gobie just jumped out while I had the top off and I didn't see him for like 5-10 min! I dumped him back in and he was barely breathing. I had to leave the room for about 15 min. and saw he was stuck in the middle of my pink tip haitian upon return. How long I don't know. Removed him and he is breathing and trying to swim a little when someone comes near him (LMB his arch enemy). Looks like his skin is slophing off where he was stuck in the anemonie. Can he recoupe or should I be humane and euthanize him? Quick response please, I hate it when stuff like this happens!!

There is a good chance that was just too much stress for him. If I were you, I'd try to give him a little safe haven. Get a new/very clean tupperware container. Poke lots of holes in it, big enough to circulate water, but small enough so he can't escape. Then put him in it for a few days. Remeber to feed him, and keep it near the bottom so he doesn't fry in the lights. Then let us know how it goes...
GL!

Your gonna think I'm nuts, but it's worked for me...twice!!! When my fish took a carpet surf, like you I didn't notice for a while and when I did he was barely breathing, like yours. You need to perform rescue breathing. No, no, not mouth to mouth. I put my fish in a net then pulled him back and forth in the water kinda quick, enough to get water to flow through his mouth/gills. I did about 5 or 6 sweeps, and it saved the fish, both times!! Good luck, if it's not to late.

Thanks for the info, I wonder if his gills have been permanetly damaged? He was out for a good while because I had to do diaper duty and he had flopped under the cabinet. He has jumped out 2x before but grabed instantly and put back in with no ill effects. Maby he has a death wish? I will go find a clear container and do what you sugested. Maby put a little melafix in for preventative?

Sorry to hear that.

Firsfish are known jumpers. You need to cover every square centimeter of the top of the tank next time, or if you still have one.

My lion did the same thing. I keep a brick on the tank at night and during the day. The lion somehow opened my lid up.

The front part that lifted up was missing( bought it for from somone) so i had to buy a new lid and just use the front part. I NOW keep a brick on the tanks after the insident. I also im getitng a new lighting unit and maybe an over flow for the 125. Sorry if i stoll your thread.

We have 2 firefish and was worried at first after getting them. They seem to be behaving (the clown probably keeps them in check) so we dont worry about the opening on the top of the tank. Sucks that your guy popped out. I've been thinkin of getting a screen for the top.
As for Tizzo's fishy CPR method... I was at a LFS once, saw a fish pop out. The thing was in total shock. Its fins were spread out tight, mouth gaping open and was practically paralyzed. The clerk grabbed the fish and held it in front of a powerhead to push water through its gills. Sure enough, about a min later, the fish swam away and hid in the LR. It didnt just meander into the LR, it swam like normal. I was like "woah". So yeah... fishy CPR works. :)
