I am getting rid of my LTA, and i am curious how you ship one.. I've shipped corals many many times w/ no problems but never an anemone. I have read that they can be shipped dry.. what does that mean? The anemone in the bag w/ no water? that seems kinda crazy to me.. I'd like to do whats best for the anemone.. not what costs the least.. so please anyone fill me in! I may need to ship tonight so a quick response would be appreciated!

You can package them just like a coral. Put them in a bag with some water (low-normal level). Fill it with air and tie it off. It's just that anemonies produce a lot fo waste so a lot of times people don't like to give them a lot of water.

actually, the best way is to put it in a bowl with no water. let it expel most of its water into the bowl, then bag it air-tight and ship it in styrofoam. check weather to see if it would need cool or warm packs.
the water in the bag that you saw from swf.com was most likely left over from the anemone, not added water to the bag.

so it can release the water it's been holding. you pretty much ship it 'dry', with only the water it doesn't expel left inside of it.

because then it has to sit in the waste water it just expelled. I might be wrong but they kind of become sedated when there is no water so when you ship them dry they will slow down vice having them in a bag full of filthy water....

I wouldnt ship with absolutely no water, and the anemoines water drained, JMO. I say package it like you would package a fish, can't hurt.

It says on this site that they ship them with little or no water.

it may not hurt but it's not as good as the way we advised. it's easy and cost-free and it's a tried and true technique for shipping. why not do what's best for the anemone?
