Husband brought home a surprise..............(how long will this last...?)

I recently started my first saltwater tank ( 150 gallon FO )
Three weeks ago, I put in 2 percula clowns (2"). I didn't realize my husband was as excited about thiese fish as I am until TODAY. He brought me a cute little yellow tang ...and.......a baby trigger!
My original plan was to add:
foxface
purple and powder blue tangs (simultaneously)
flame angel
My husband doesn't know anything about compatibility OR adult size of these fish, as I mentioned until recently we have only had freshwater tanks.
To my surprise my LFS told him that the trigger would be fine even after my husband told him my only fish so far were 2 percs.....?!....go figure.
My question is how long do I have before the trigger is after my little percs?
Thanks, New mom. ;)

what kind of trigger is it? Some triggers are more docile than others. the huma trigger is far more docile thant the udaulted trigger. If it is a huma trigger, then your percs should be ok as they only get to be about five inches. Good luck

Triggers can be aggresive as you know. As far as how long? No way to tell. I have seen some triggers get along fine with smaller fish. They were raised togther so I guess he never viewed them as food but I would not advise this. I would remove the trigger.
Also if you plan on getting a purple tang, I would advise you to remove the yellow for now. They will fight if the yellow becomes the dominant tang before the purple is introduced.

Sorry I did forget to mention that this is a CLOWN trigger.
THAT is why I am quite concerned. Thanks again.

uh oh clown trigger in a reef thats kinda scary i never heard of anyone doing it. I would advise you to remove the trigger i think the only trigger maybe thtas like 20 percent compatable with a reef is a niger, but thats just my opinion.

maybe you could get a tank divider if you want the trigger and the clowns. if now bring one back. don't let the trigger kill the clowns

My parents did the same thing.. They really don't know what they are doing with sw tanks, or fresh for that matter!!! Anyway i left for college 6 yrs ago and they never had anything in the 110 that me and my brother bought. Brother stopped taking care of tank. about 2 years ago they got a mandarin who was fat and happy with 100+ lbs of rock all by himself in the 110. Well around this past christmas they went and got 3 damsels a humu humu and a niger... I told them to take the mandarine out but they could never catch it from the in the rocks. The triggers were very small but it didn't stop them from picking on the mandarin and well the mandarin isn't alive anymore.

anthony812... it was stated that this is a 150 gallon FO (fish only) tank. If it were me, I would get rid of the other fish and keep the clown trigger. But that is just me.
In any case, good luck.

DO NOT put a clown trig in that tank unless you are going to make it a predator tank.
