I have a common clown, a yellow tang, and a lawnmower blenny. What kind of food should I give them. I have been feeding them a little flake food and frozen vitamin enriched brine shrimp. I also have a cleaner shrimp and a coral banded shrimp. what should I feed them. I only see the coral banded at night and I have not seen the cleaner succesfully clean any other fish.

Your Ok feeding flakes, but I would also feed the tang romane lettuce, seaweed select or sushi nori from your LFS. Be careful feeding the brine shrimp. For the fish you have it will basically be just a treat, they don't really need it and if you feed to much too often it can cause an ammonia spike. As for the lawnmower blenny he will basically eat zooanthids or any other pods swimming in the water.

I have tried feeding the yellow tang lettuce but he doesn't even give it a second look. You said that the lawnmower blenny will eat zoonathids, I just ordered a clove star polyp the other day and I thought that polyps were zoonathids. Will he eat it??? I thought they were poisionus

the lawnmower blenny is an algae eater, and will eat much of the same thing as the tang, we also give ours some algae wafers my wife bought
no he will not bother it, the lawnmower is not a scooter or dragonette, he is an ALGAE EATER the are STRICT herbivores
nothing ot worry about there

I to had a problem getting my tangs to eat the romain. But once I started putting the sushinori and seaweed selects they tore it up.And now he will eat the lettuce when on the same clip. But hey do like flakes as well.I just have to be careful cause I tend to overfeed.Just ask Chevron Tang, she'll tell you.

I am wanting to start feeding my tang dried seaweed or some kind of substitute food. What is the best kind and how should I present the fod to them. If I use one of those clips where do I need to put it at on the tank. For the lawnmower should I wedge the food in between some rocks?

the wafers we use, we just set in the tank and the blenny finds it(on the rock or sand), i'd imagine the same would hold true for seaweed or letuce, don't have a tang(yet, we just recently set up a tank big enough for one), so don't know for sure
