Hydor Koralia - Need info on how they attach

I am looking to get a couple Hydor Koralia's (3's or 4's) but I need to know how they attach to the tank. From what I can see/read they have both a magnet & suction cup. Can I use just the suction cup or do I need to use the manget on the other side of the glass as well?
Does anyone know how much room is required for the manget on the backside?
They would be mounted on one end of the tank, and it is very close to the wall. I do not know if I have enough clearance for the magnet, that is why I was hoping I could use just the suction cup.
Does the magnet differ in size from the 3 or 4's?
Thanks!

I would not mount one without the magnet. The magnet is very thin, maybe a half an inch tops.

I 'might' have a 1/2", but it will be close. I will measure when I get home today. Can someone measure their magnet and let me know and exact size?
Thanks!

Hi,
It attaches w/ suction and magnet, they are awesome!
The reason I chose this type of gizmo is that it stays put. I had more problems than time will allow telling you about reg. powerheads.
Before Koralias I was...

1. tieing a powerhead up with fishing line
2. Making my own magnet to hold the powerhead in place.
3. Propping the dam thing up on a rock, wedged in
God bless the soul of whoever makes Koralias!

I have a #4, and my 125gal has 1/2" glass, so the magnet is really just there as a CYA. It's really not that strong with thick glass. But the suction cup is a pretty good one

unless ur tank is literally touching the wall, u shouldnt hv any issue at all with the magnet.

Both 3's and 4's are the same size. 2-7/8" in diameter 7/16" thick sticking to the glass (the power head and magnet both have suction cups). You can use the head w/o the magnet but eventually it will fall off. The bad thing about that is that the head is so powerful that it will blow your substrate all over the place and stir up all kinds of trates and detris.
I recommend using the magnet but even w/o it koralia is still the best powerhead in town.

I measured and it is just at 1/2", maybe an 1/16" less. I also called the company and have a quick chat with a rep who pulled one out and did a couple measurements and gave me a couple tricks to get it where I need to. Thanks and I will post pics once I get them installed!
