Hydor koralia problems?

Ive had koralia 3s for about 2 months now and all of a sudden today they started making a clicking sound I think from the propellors hitting the sides. After they do that for a few seconds they will either go back to normal or kick the tip off. Anyone experience this or know what to do? I tried taking them out and brushing them down but that didnt help.

are you running them on a wavemaker?
No although my dad just mentioned that everything for the aquarium is on the same circuit and that might make the power flicker. Seems possible since the clicking is the same thing they do when they first get turned on but I dont see the lights flickering so I dunno, Im going to move the lights to a different circuit after they go out and see if that works.

Well after fixing the electricity so that there is no way the power will flicker, the koralias are still clicking and knocking off the tips. Has anyone else experienced this? I think Im going to put a piece of stiff airline to hold the propellors back but still giving them space to spin freely.

Its possible they are spinning in reverse from your power flickering on and off.Put your hand in front of one and see if its pushing out water.

Whenever they are working correctly they do, when they are clicking its because the propellors are popping in and out of the whole theyre supposed to be in and arent moving any water.

This probably has nothing to do with it but is the ph clean? I would soak it in water and white vinegar and then scrub it and then see if it does it anymore.

I scrubbed it but that didnt help. I didnt wanna use vinegar until someone said it would be ok Ill try that tomorrow.

That vinegar cleaned them up and they work properly now, thanks. Is that common knowledge that power heads need regular cleaning?

Yes or at least I would think so. I have 2 ph's in each of my tanks and once a month or so I take one out of each tank and soak them in white vinegar and water and then I scrub them. I'm happy that it worked out for.
