hydroid jellyfish question...

I noticed a few little white hydroid jellyfish on the side of my tank about a month ago and I just let them be... yesterday I noticed that the side of the glass (only the right side of tank) was getting heavily populated by them.. I decided to wipe them off with the magnet cleaner..
Will this ultimately be a problem? Should I have cleaned them off or let them be?

are hydroids good, or bad, why?
I don't know if you can classify them as 'always bad' but most seem to be troublesome for the tank. Basically they're bad because they sting and often times they multiply quickly.

will smashing them with a mag float be bad? or should I just get a peppermint shrimp to maybe eat them?
I'm not sure the right steps to take.. I remember having them for a short period in my original tank but they ended up going away after a while... but I DID have pepperment shrimp in the tank that was used for aptasia..
I've been cleaning them off with a mag float, but they'll slowly start to show themselves here and there the next couple days.
