Hydrometers

After having my mar. tank for 8 yrs, a problem with my trusty hydrometer arose. It had been reading that the salinity was fine and after watching corals, leathers, one by one open their polyps less and less, I took action and found that in testing it with others hydrometers, mine certainly was off, way off. The salinity was too high. Have lowered it gradually . Want to know what brand some of you really can trust. My fish all seemed to be fine, which is confusing. Allready my gorgoniam is opening. Appreciat your info..

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will search out a refractometer. I have never read about them. For something as important as this I will put out the 50 bucks.

you can buy something called a salimeter, for 25 bucks, this is a glass type hydrometer, with a pipet, it is actually more accurate, and easier to read than a refractometer.:joy:
I think all you have to do is clean it with ro/di water occasionally and store it in it.
