Hydroponic Lighting vs Aquarium Lighting

Is there a difference?
Has anyone ever used a hydroponic grow system for their reef aquarium? It seems like the systems to me are similar, but may require different MH bulbs... They are cheaper than comparable systems on aquarium sites... at least seem to be... What do you all think?

Much is the same but the K color of the lamps that are sold with them and as far as durability to stand up to the salt. Most aquarium lights are more salt resistant.
