Hypo on Diamond Goby

Hello,
I have a question regarding the possiblity of performing Hypo in my qt on a new diamond goby. I have performed hypo on all the fish in my dt, however I'm concerned about doing so with my diamond goby as they need a substrate. I have no substrate in my qt per the hypo instructions. Can anyone shed any light on this? Should I just put some subtrate in my qt and just observe it in the qt for a while before adding into Dt?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I put my goby in QT, Beth (mod on here) recommended that I do a bare bottom QT. I would just feed very small amounts of frozen food 2-3 times a day. Also, provide hiding spots like PVC pipe.

You can try a small bowl and fill it with live sand, not crushed coral, within the QT. Maybe he will use it.
