Hypo

Ok I have been reading these posts and everyone seems to agree that hypo is a accepted way to treat ick. My question is...If most of the parasites wont breed in hypo and the fish seem to thrive then why not leave your tank at 09 all the time if you dont have inverts or live rock? :notsure:

Well these are marine fish, not brackish fish. It is fine for short-term, as a treatment, but unnatural to submit fish to this long-term. Also, most people have live rock and live rock will not survive hypo conditions.
The acclimation process from lfs and hyposaline tank would be difficult as well.

Ok fair enough. What is your ideal salinity 17-19? Or rather what do you keep your tanks at? And thanks so much for your response. Reading all these posts is invaluable. Thanks soooo much...
