In my main tank I have 90-100lbs of live rock. No LR in the hospital.
I have had my orange linka for about 3 months. He was one of my first purchases along with a couple of killer damsels that I took back to the petstore.
The only water movement in my hospital tank is from the filter. In the 55 I have a Korola 3 powerhead, 700 gph pump with the wetdry, plus 2 hangon filters.

The filter would not be early enough with all of those fish in a tiny tank. Saltwater has very little oxygen in it by itself.

I monitored the PH and Salt.
They were acting like they were gasping for air so I even added a tiny bit of salt back and they seemed fine after that. I checked on them an hour later and they were all dead.
this is what I was thinking when I read this that the water had a very low oxygen content and caused stress and not enough oxygen for the fish in the tank. I know its not a comforting though but if we can narrow it down to what happened it can keep it from happening in the future.
with whats been said so far I believe that this is what happened in your tank though.
the reason I ask about LR is because of the linkia they are a fairly fragile starfish and need a lot of rock and stable tank for long term sucess in keeping them.

What kind of air filter? A powerhead is what is needed here. If you are talking about an air stone or something along those lines, that will help until you can get a powerhead.
