Just wanted to let you guys know that hyposalinity really works!
I have had my tank going for almost 1 year now and havent had any problems for the longest time. I ordered some fish from a CERTINE WEBSITE (no names given) hint, hint.......lol, and my tank developed ICK. My hospital tank was with someone else at the time so i decided to hypo the whole damn tank. It is 55 gallions and it took forever to get it to 1.009 but once i did, in two days all the ick was gone from my fish! I will keep it like this for one month to be sure but the fish are doing great! By-the-way, I also have hermit crabs and they have done great also! Hint for you that try it, Watch your PH as you drop the salinity levels cause it will fall as well. Thanks Terry!

I use a refractometer when doing hypo. I will agree that hypo does work, and as far as I'm concerned I think it's the only thing that really works. I have a porc puffer that I had to use hypo on. I kept the salinity at 1.009 for 6 weeks. He has yet to have a relapse. My freind that owns a LFS still does not believe me when I told him how to cure ich. He thinks that the fish cannot survive in that low salinity. We debate this at least ounce a week.

The funny thing about my freind is he's the one that told me about this MB. I will say that Hypo has gained an incrediable amount of credability over the last couple of years. I've even seen several articles in magazines other than the FAMA articles, so I would say that it's catching on. Alot of other freinds that I have told have tried this method with good results. I have tried other methods, such as reef safe meds, and they did nothing other than slow down the disease. These methods did not irraticate the disease. The disease would always come back, just maybe not for a couple of weeks. I credit the life of my puffer to TerryB, anthem, and beth's great advice. Keep up the good work.

Yes, I've read your articles. Very informative. I didn't know that you wrote for other magazines, I've just read the FAMA articles. It's funny because I just got back from my freinds LFS, they get their livestock in on Fridays, and he was informing a customer to do hypo on a clownfish that has ich. I was surprised as I've mentioned he really didn't think it works. I didn't bother to ask him what changed his mind. I just made sure that he gave the customer the correct information. I also gave the customer the info for this MSB.
