You said they were all on the other side of the door laughing, did they have anything to do with the door opening?? I mean were they holding it shut or anything?
Anyway, your manager will never get new parts to replace the rusted parts. If they rusted once, they will do so again, just make the best of a bad situation...
Charge him 5 bucks in place of a potential lawsuit and store this in there...

no they didnt have anything to do with it, i just couldnt get the lock open. you cant get in from the outside when the doors locked, so they couldnt do anything other than laugh.

They should either install a "crash bar" inside the freezer or have a light outside that alerts them someone is in the freezer. I think OSHA would be interested in the situation you were in.

I agree...that sort of thing should have a regular inspection to ensure it works, in particular if it is considered part of your safety/security measures.
