Finally, after the bottom seals on my 55 gal tank came apart and I started leaking water all over my floor I had to take drastic action which I thought was just going to last a week or so. The action I took was to take out all of my live rock and put it in one of my spare 55 gallong tanks (yes, pathetic I know), siphoned all the water out, and put all my corals in that tank with my light on top. What I ended up with was a peice of crap bare-bottom tank that started an immediate and massive ammonia spike (the levels were off the chart of my LFSs testing kit). My corals didn't look too affected so I left them in there until I also started a massive hair algae bloom. At this point all of the corals were showing some signs of recession so I sent all I could to my friends tank to hold for me.
Well, the new 37g tank I ordered came in two weeks late. The stand that I made in Chicago wouldn't fit in my car to take it back with me to MN so I had to wait 3 weeks until I got that. Combined with other delays it has been almost 3 months from when I last had a tank I wasn't embarrassed about. Granted, some of those delays were caused by my stupidity, but a lot was bad luck.
Which brings me to my point: I now have a new tank!!!!
I am going to post the progression pics up to today.
