about a year ago i purchased a lobster. ( i know big deal ) he lived about 3 months. when he died i removed him and that was that. about a year later out of no where a lobster showed up in my tank. he is about 1 inch long and looks purple and orange. so here are the questions
how is this possible after one year?

there was only one lobster how did this happen?

am i just crazy

Did he come on live rock recently. If not your crazy lol. You sure you havent been over doseing. Just kidding.lol I think live rock or if he came back from the dead!! ewww ahhh eek

You sure you didn't just throw his molt away? This is what sound like to me. I had one for 6 months till he started nipping fins. He molted every couple of months though.

could have been possible you just removed the molt. I know i only see my purple lobster like once every month or so...

when i threw away the body it was maybe 4and a half inches long. the one i saw today is only about 1and a half inches big. i am shocked to see it belive me but its there and i did not place him there. i think i am going nuts. its a first. but again how is this possible. com on guys help me figure it out. where julian sprung when you need him.

Here is another possible scenario but it would be a real longshot. If I recall correctly, those tasty Maine lobsters actually carry their eggs attached to their swimmerettes. Now, I'm pretty sure that tropical lobsters are not even in the same family but maybe they also carry their eggs in a similar fashion? If so, maybe your lobster already had fertilized eggs attached. The longshot part would seem to be that some hatched and survived long enough to produce the little lobster you saw.

its been a year since the other lobster the eggs would have hatched a long time ago. if i didnt see the lobster i would think this story is a lie but its true. can ne1 answer my questions i am dying to find out

jus a update. it was and still is a lobster. he is about 2 inches long now and i see him at least once a week. i dont do anything for him but he lives on. how he lives is the same as how he got here, a mystery. if anyone knows how to care for a lobster let me know. any info will help.
