hyposalinity is a process that will kill all ick thats in your tank, it is a delicate process that requires precise salinity measuring and accurate water perameters to do this correctly. you do have the option of removing all fish, not inverts, just fish for a minimum of 6 weeks, no host no ick! i would say a series of massive water changes befor adding any inverts if you have added copper to your tank. the copper will be in your system and will kill any invert put in that tank. hyposalinity is the way to go about this if you already have fish and wanna keep them. the process(which i am in the process of doing because of silly mistakes in the past) requires a refractometer, no no no plastic or glass hydrometers!!!!! they are not accurate and may casue deaths or the treatment not to work if the salinity is not at an exact 1.009 SG. this is very important! the parasite can not survive in that salinity. the amount of time that the tank is hypo'd is a minimum of 3-4 weeks, i will maintain this level for 4 weeks. you do however also need to remove any invertebrates, they cannot survive this level either. weekly 10% water changes are also doen through this process because of die off in your sand bed, live rock and natural biological filtration. if this is a route you decide to go on, you may ask me any questions you have, i will answer them to the best of my ability!
