I am at the hotel right now. The aquarium was wonderful (I did have some things that bothered me on husbandry, on some things, but then again, I like to complain a lot!)
It was great, I got a few nice pics, before I went crazy, and had to leave, before I started threatening people. What I mean is that the crowds are SO bad that you really can not enjoy it AT all!
I will upload pics eventually.

I would recommend getting annual passes for anyone living close enough to go several times a year. You get 20% off in the stores and cafeteria. I wish I had taken my camera when I went- oh well- it was amazing! I loved the huge viewing area for the whale sharks! Definately get reservations I've talked to people who stood in line for over 4 hours. Here are some camera phone pics!

My trip to the Atlanta Aq, has been nothing but a headache.........sure wished I stayed home. It has lead to excessive compulsive thinking and day dreaming on how I can convert my 2, 1+ acre ponds and my pasture to a salt water setup......Seriously, its a great thing to see and well worth the visit.

Just curious, why was it a headache? I live about 30 minutes north of the aquarium and I've been reluctant to go until at least February as I figured it'd be too crowded...

The day I went I didn't think the crouds were out of line considering how new it is ..The only thing that slowed things up was people with baby strollers. If I were to go again I would go on a week day. (Non Holiday) I would think if school is in session the Class trips could be a problem. But as it was I never had to stand in line for anything. Most people don't really know what they are looking at so they stare for a minuite then move along. Most folks on this site would like to look things over for a while and try to name everything in the tank.
One thing you would want to do is eat before you go in. A hamburger is $5.00 Water or Coke $2.00. ***)

School trips may not be a big issue during weekdays. I've read that the aquarium has a completely separate, isolated "educational loop" that allows students to tour the aquarium without ever having contact with the areas that the public is in.
Bernie Marcus apparently visited some other aquarium, and was ticked off that school kids did nothing but run around all day yelling and screaming, A) learning nothing and B) irritating all the adults who were interested in more than a day off school. So, he built it to allow kids to learn and the public to be able to enjoy it in peace.
...about time somebody did that.
...oh yeah, and I just realized what an idiot I look like because after re-reading his post, he was obviously kidding.

I totally agree, with the most of the public having no idea what they were looking at, and just moving on, but I tried and stay at each exhibit for a while, but couldn't take it! I will go back eventually, just not anytime soon.
