Im leaving on SUNDAY and I am leaving my tank in FAIRLY capable hands... But I cant leave my tank on 24/7 with the gennie. I will run out of gas if its bad here and we loose power for a few days...lets see.... What a horrible feeling!

Its still a ways away, thats a pretty random projected path too. Pretty much the whole state of FL is in the cone of death there. Give it time. Have whoever is watching your tank make sure a list of things are functioning and feed an allotted amount, then when you get back, clean it.

It's worrying me too...already a cat 3 and we're pretty much in the center of the projected cone.
I have 3 battery bubblers...but no generator! Hope that will hold the tank over if we lose power. Worst hurricane a few years ago we lost power for over a week.

On top of the fish tank I manage a horse farm so getting everything inside that can blow around...and moving a few of our personal horses here to work where it's more hurricane-strong is just a pain during hurricane season. Things can change from day to day!
Then sitting in line at the gas stations to fill up my truck, and then the 2 work duallys (which they have that stupid limit on credit card purchases...do you know how much it costs to fill one of those beasts up? obviously the gas stations and credit companies haven't taken that into consideration yet).
Okay...done with the rant...just gotta sit and wait to see where these storms head to.

You know, it's interesting....living in the middle of the country I never realized how many hurricanes there are until I joined this board. Saltwater and Geography/climates....cool. But yeah, all of you down southeast, take care.

Move up here to the MIdwest all you have to deal with is the Occasional Thunderstorm Blizzards and Politgcians that are freaking IDIOTS.

I vaguely remember there being tornados up there too (grew up in IL). ;)
At least you have a few days warning with a hurricane...tornados a few minutes maybe?

That storm could go anywhere at this point, ad could change intensity as well. No telling right now. A few days go, they projected that storm to go the same route as Hanna.

Well I will be putting up the hurricane shutters this weekend. I had a Blast
when Charlie came when I was in Ft. Myers. Now that I own a home things are of a different perspective. No tank is set up yet. So lack of electric will not be to hard to deal with. Bad thing is I fly out to Singapore early next week and hate to leave the house and wife behind if things are really bad.

Good Luck to all that are in Ike's path.
