I have a 55g with 50lbs of LR and 3"LS. I'm still ghost feeding should I stop or not? I haven't had a algae spike yet.

I would stopp ghost feeding. You say "live rock" was it from another tank or was it dried out?

Yes I got my LR from my pet store right out of the tank. This is my second tank my first tank was a FO aggressive tank. So should I wait til my bloom before I get a cuc?

Stop ghost feeding and go ahead a get a few snails to put in.
I suggest Nassarius, and Cerith.
Make sure you acclimate them well.
Then wait a week or so. I bet you will start to see some diatoms soon. Did you use the bagged "live sand"?

I am going to disagree with stopping the ghost feeding until your post some more info. How high was your ammonia spike? What did you use to start your cycle? How much did you ghost feed and how often. When are you planning on introducing your first fish?

I would normally agree with this except for the following posts from the OP.

Its been four weeks now and I also been gost feedind.

If this is indeed true I would risk the addition of some CUC and discontinue the ghost feeding. This only because why fuel the possibility of an unwanted algae outbreak?

I had been cycling for 4 weeks now with ghost feeding everyday w/lights on 8Hr. Ammonia spike was at 15 ppm. I have 50lbs of LR out of the tank at my lfs my live sand was out of a bag. I took my water to the lfs for tests and everything was at 0.0ppm. I hope I answered everything.

The bio filtration growth as we know is predicated on the amount of breakdown. Not knowing how much he is feeding opens the possibility of a small population of nitrification bacteria. Now he stops feeding this bacteria and the population diminishes his readings are good when tested but when he adds a bio-load (fish) he IMO can tax the system to the point of an ammonia spike

That makes a lot of sense I've been feeding a lot but there is no way of telling how much food. I'm in no hurry. So should I wait two more weeks?
