Okay. Yellow tangs love herbivore food such as spirulina flakes, mine loves those or algae sheets. Also, he may still be adjusting to the tank. The chocolate chip starfish can usually get enough food from the sand and rocks as he moves and doens't really need to be fed but most people jsut put a little piece of krill or whatever you feed your fish underneath him and he usually will eat it. What kind of clam and what do you mean by underground?

My Naso tang eats about a 1/3 sheet a day,and no your clowns and damsels shouldn't mess with the algae sheets. You need to get a algae clip for the sheets also if you do not have one already,my tangs seem to like the green sheets better than the others too. :yes:I forgot to mention,i wouldn't put a whole sheet in at once.Take the sheet and cut it in several pieces!

your tang NEEDS the sheets.....their main staple of food are greens NOT flakes. Just so you know...I have a naso tang, and at first he would only eat the sheets....then slowly 2 weeks later tried a few pieces of krill and now will eat the flakes, krill, but still main food he loves sheets, sheets and more sheets! Good luck to ya!

I have a yellow tang, a naso tang and they love the sheets. My clown trigger even eats the sheets. I will put it in and 5 mins later its gon they love those sheets!!! Its a great investment, and if your lfs is expensive try a grocery store because they might have it.

I have a purple tang and he eats everything that i put in the tank i feed all kinds of thing i like to feed ocean nutrition formula two in the flake form along with formula one live brine every now and then a pice or two of krill every two or three days. the only reason i am saying this is because it is sometimes eayser to feed flakes than the sheet as a lot of people seem to over feed the sheets.
oo ya and it feels good to be back in this site it ben a few months lol.

I don't have any tangs or so but the sheet is called garden salad at the fish store -- slightly costly. You can go to an Asian food store or a store that sells cultural foods - Japanese seaweed - Nori. Make sure its unsalted and unflavored!
Also, there is a clip they sell that holds the seaweed. $2 - $5 (many sheets) :)
I bought a cleaner clam from this site, he hid for 2 weeks, used my turkey baster created a sandstorm and found it!! It was like Hide - n - seek! The clam will manuever it self above the sand (I have a 1" sandbed) and the clam will hide!! When it does hide, I can see its mouth (what ever its called - foot) open and I assume it is filtering in good stuff! You can see it in the sand bed and you'll have to look really carefully for it!! (if you wanna find it)
:jumping: :)

before you buy a fish in the future, always ask the LFS to feed him and make sure he eats before you buy him. You might just have got a badly shipped yellow tang or something.
