I wrote the story and my husband is doing the art work. Wish us luck! Has anyone ever tried to publish a book? I heard it is difficult.

my buddy got his book of poetry published after about 10 years of trying... its pretty spendy too...
good luck... with the amount of childrens books out there its probably a good indicator that genre is fairly easy to break into...

My brother had his own very small monthly magazine published and my brother in-law recently had a instructional book to percussion instruments published.The both say it was more of a legal hassle then anything else once they found a publisher.

Good luck with the book,i hope it goes well for you .

An old farmer where I installed DirecTV for wrote and published a book.... go with a small publisher -- it HAS to be fairly easy if he did it.
I bought his book and read it -- more of a life history and fairly interesting... nothing great unless you grew up in this part of the country... mostly like "we had a long winter and bad crops" but then had some very interesting stories that reminds me of how my parents/grandparents grew up.
It was a project after his son died in a car accident and helped him cope but that is my second autographed book :)
Go local and have a small run - think he printed up like 1,000 or 1500... you can always get more published.
Good luck!

I also write childrens stories/poems/books. I have had a couple things published in magazines, but still working on the book. (I'm very close, had a pub. consider it
)
My advise is that you purchase a book called the Writers Book market or something like that. It lists publishers and what they are interested in and what they really want. If they accept fiction, unsolicited manuscripts, etc. It gives how much royalties they give, their phone #, address and where and who to send it to.
Just to let you know, they don't usually like you to send illustrations unless you are the artist.
You really have to do your research. The market is very competative and you don't want to waste your time sending it to the wrong place. once you find a publisher, go to their web site and check out their books. Call them and make sure the address or editor hasn't changed.
When yhou get your first rejection letter, don't worry about it, find another publisher and send it to them.
Good luck!!

Thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement. I am hoping that I get lucky for once and things work out for me with this.
