Ok I went to a fish store in my area today and was looking around and was just about to buy a poor starving Manderine goby when I noticed this red and white goby in the tank with it so I asked the guy what type it was and he said candy cane so in my mine I was thinking he made this name up, so I looked into a neither tank and noticed there was a pistol shrimp in there so I asked the guy about it, so he told me that about a week ago a guy that was getting ride of his aquarium come in and trded these in. so putting 2 and 2 togeather i knew these guys were supose to be togeather so I bought them for $24.00 LOL. When I dropped them into my tank they emmediatly found each other and the shrimp went to work digging then the two vanisded
, still looking for them to come back out. I know the shrimp is a tiger but the Goby is one that I havnt seen before and need to find out what kind he is. sorry the pics arant that good

first one looks like either a shrimp or a lobster, if its a lobster i wouldn't suggest putting it in your main display

The pics are not really clear enough to tell species but sure it genus Amblyeleotris. Many have the stripes like that. Congradulations on it anyway

Makes it hard to clean the refuge since they can put there pincer thru your finger. I also herd that they can break the glass with them. Nasty buggers or are they just misunderstood?

Well I just have to say these guys are tank destoyers, I have a 125 gal tank and from the center all the way over to the end looks like a bulldozer has overturned my sand. I really dont under stand what there doing. he digs a hole messes up the water closes the door then there gone suddenly they pop up some whres else and dig all over the place. I dont know why they just dont dig a hole and stay put. maybee there looking for the right place. does any one know? here is a quick pic its a little fuzzyand sand is allover my rock from the settling.

so what do you think anything. I am really disliking looking at my tank and its all cloudy. I did see something funny though well i dont know about funny but neat. I was setting there and suddnly I heard a bunch of clicking noises one afeter the other so i went to check it out out and while the pistol shrimp was digging he dug up one of my sand siftying star fish and was going to town on him trying to get him to leave, it run away after i got it off of him, but I have never seen my star fish move so fast it took off over some of my rock and everything to get away. so does any one know if this guy will quit digging or is my tank going to stay clouudy untill i get rid of this guy?

well, they need to find a place that THEY feel secure. You may need to wait a while.
also, the pistol shrimp looks like an Alpheus bellulus

That variety(s) cannot put their clubs through your finger...considering they are smashers.
