In respect to the mantis they are a very beautiful shrimp worthy of their own tank if you are not going to keep any fish I would go with it IMO

I have always wanted a frogfish. Mantis are cool, but need their own tank. Frogfish should really be kept alone too though.

After I saw it I had to seriously contemplate weather I wanted to do a frog fish or a mantis . Truely amazing in my opinion .

I'm already planning to get a frog fish for my fish only 125gal so I've got that covered plus my smaller tank is the right sive for a octo
P.S what are LFS

An octopus will very quickly excuse himself from the confines of your nano.

Go with a mantis.

I agree with everyone else. I don't think there are any octopus that will stay small enough to live in a 24 gallon tank. I would go with the mantis if you are going to get something aggressive with no fish. Just watch your fingers in the tank after you put one in there because they can and will break fingers.
