It is so hard being patient while my tank cycles!!!! I put another damsell in my tank right after the 10 lbs of live rock.....I know, I know....I shouldnt have done it...but I couldnt help it. Its a pretty big domino and there was only one left (domino) at my LFS. Both the domino and the yellowtail seem to be fine...I have'nt tested my levels today, but it really doesnt matter since its still cycling. I satrted the tank on the 13 of this month, so I'm hoping that it will be ready in a couple more weeks???? I guess Im just really anxiouse....!!!! How long does it usually take for a 29 gal tank to cycle???? Any words of wisdom???

i have a 32 gal that cycled in about 3 weeks...i started 3days of just water.....i also was impatient and bought a domino and a yellow tailed damsel......i think you will be fine...those damsels will help cycle the tank.....if i had it to do all over,,,,,,i would have cycled with just shrimp........i hope you like them cause they are supper hard to catch..........especialy if you already have live rock in the tank........

Like I said.....I knew I was going to get some bad replies....its ok though. This was my first saltwater tank, and I was informed by my LFS to cycle the tank w/ damsells. I later found out that I shouldnt have done that....learn from your mistakes right...??? I can wait, I am just very exited for this to be complete!!!! I am not adding more fish, and they both seem to be doing very well!!! :joy:

Sorry, my reply wasn't meant to be "bad", just realistic. Patience is a neccessity in the hobby.
We've all been given bad advice by pet stores, but don't keep adding live fish to cycle. That's just wrong. Now that you know better you are responsible for your tank.
I understand your excitement. I'm staring at 200 gallons of empty water right now.

Thanks....good luck with your tank as well....I see your point though....mistake wont happen again....thanks for all your help and advice everyone!!!
