I got this sun coral last week. It is growing on a clam or a musscle or something. The pictures aren't the greatest, but if anyone knows what it is, I'm wondering if it's o.k. to keep in my tank. 12 gal aqua pod.
Here is a picture of the thing with it's mouth mostly closed

Here is picture of it's mouth more open. you can see the gap on the bottom, under the polyps.

Here is a pic of the side, you can kinds see the curly smile mouth along the sand.

And here is a top view. Hope all these pics fit.

It's a sun coral. It should do fine in your tank as long as feed it. You'll need to spot feed it, make sure you feed each polyp and find a shady spot for it. They don't need a lot of light.

P.S.
It really is beautiful!!!

I know it's a sun coral, what I can't figure out is what it's growing ON. Look under it in the second pic. You can see like a bottom ridge of a mouth or something. I know the pics aren't good.

are you joking? I never heard of a turkey wing. This thing opens and closes. I swear it's a clam of some sort. I don't want it messing up my tank. I just got it good after that anemone jumped it up a bit. But I LOVE my sun coral!! It's like a venus fly trap! It grabs food right out of your hand. If it is a clam willit jump up my levels? Anyone know?

No, when it opens up there are two clear linings that meet in the middle. they open and close now and then like lips or something. I'll get better pictures tomorrow if the coral ever closes. It's easier to see then.

It looks like it's attached to a turkey wing. A turkey wing is a clam and is a good thing. I've read that the clam is very strong and when it opens if it is within a wall with other rocks resting on top that it will move all the rocks! Looks to me like you got a free "goodie" actually!

Here is kinda a better picture. I think it is definately a clam. I wonder what kind and how big it will get.

The stick I lifted it with is kinda at it's mouth.

heres another one

Do you think it will be alright in my tank?
