I don't know what happened?

I was moving a piece of rock in my tank and I think I may have injured my brittle star. Three days later all my fish seem to having a hard time breathing, they wont eat, and they don't swim very strong. Is it possible the star may have leaked some sort of toxin into the tank???? I just don't really know what else to think. I have had this tank for about 3 years now and I never have any problems; or I have very few problems thanks to people on this board that help me with my little problems before they turn into big ones. First the Sox lose and now this, let's just say the last couple of days have not been the best.

You could have killed the star and that would have caused a big increase of ammonia. Test your ammonia and do a big water change if it is too high.

ammonia still 0 and the star is in the QT just because I have no other option and I don't know what the problem is. ammonia is 0 in the QT as well.

if you moved the sand around in the tank it could have messed with the bilogical filter in the sand causeing a mini cycle (spike) in your water chemistry that you are just seeing the effects of it.
just a thought
