Can you inform me what instruction set you used to build it?
I am building one this weekend for a 55gal.
Is that pine? Did you use nails or wood screws?
Funny story - I was at my LFS looking at how some were constructed - discussing it with my wife - as you can imagine I received dirty looks from the hired help there. :)

Hi pal... I thought out the design in my head and kinda went ahead and just did it... It is all pine... The frame is 2x4's sent through a sanding machine to clean them up.... The rest is just made up from scraps that I milled up with the jointer and planer... I can send a close up of the front of the cabinet if you want to see more detail... Here is a shot of the rear... I can't really show you the whole thing till its done and that might just be tomorrow anyway... :) I'm anxious... I just have to put 2 more coats of poly on the hood... Here you go for now partner... If you need any thing else let me know.. Oh yeah... I used 1" brads on the pine and drywall screws and deck screws on the frame... Peace out...

Looking forward to seeing the final product.
Do you feel like you saved money on this project or did you just do it for the fun of it?
I was going to do the same for my 55 but I found a new stand for $70. It would have cost me more to build it myself.
The hood was a differnt story. The cheapest I seen new was $100 and I didnt really like it so I built that myself for much less.

The only things I had to pay for was like 18.00 for the stain and poly... The rest was scrap wood laying around the shop at work.... I work for Cape Cod Lumber and we get a lot of wood going through our millwork shop that is a shame to just throw out....
