And it's sparked a renewed interest in my car. I started a build thread comparable to the new tank builds. Sorry if I seem distant, but fish have been put on the proverbial "back burner"...

J/K

I replaced the exhaust, added a Mallory spark box, replaced the rear window package tray, welded a bracket that has been broken off the frame for 30 years and began insulating the floor for new carpet.
I am STOKED!

Do you take it to shows?
Nope. Just enjoy driving it. I might start attending some cruise nights, though. Escondido has a nice one called Cruisin' Grand every first Saturday (I think) during the summer.

SoCal, ever going to paint that dag gone roof?
It's become the car's signature appearance and now I can't paint it.
My wife says she won't be seen in it until it's painted.

First car, 73 Chevy Impala 4barrel 350, damn I loved that car, I chromed the engine and I thought it was the coolest thing.. I crashed it..

My Stepdad had a 68 Chevy impala "super jet" 2dr 427... but it was more like a family car and not a show car..

The wife is the reason he hasn't painted it.

I'm relieved... thought this was another "Dear SWF" thread.

Can't really comment on the car thing... I love old vettes but that's about it. Late 50's are my favorites.

+1, I totally missed it.
Will you be adding some dynomatt to make things a little more quite?
On the cruise, I have been thinking a lot of this myself lately. I will be joining the all VW, cruise for the cure on May 3rd. 100 mile cruise. Should be fun. Last years precession was about 11 miles long.

It sports a 1971 Corvette 350, punched to 355. It runs like a Corvette on steroids. I used to street race it when I was younger.

I'm using a foil backed foam pad. It's made a huge difference and I've only done a few square feet.

That stuff looks nice. What is the name of it? Is it self adhesive?
Oh yea, It is time to cut the grass.

It's Frost King duct insulation from Lowes. It was mismarked and I bought their last 4 rolls. It is 1/8" thick and 12" wide, with a heavy foil back and is self adhesive
. Mine sat for a few years, so the adhesive was bad. I'm using 3M trim adhesive to glue it down. It is incredibly lightweight and stops the sound and vibration as good, if not better, than Dynomat.
My wife just gave me the ok to order carpet when our tax refund comes home.

Thanks, Dwight. It's kind of like a bad dream that you can't wake up from. I tried to sell it twice and didn't get a single offer. It's a love-hate thing.

We are still kicking ourselves for selling my wife's BelAir. That one was
very sweet, indeed.
