They have it in most of the stores on the east side of the state. I'm from reading and while home for christmas i was standing right next to the stuff. I wanted my grandparents who are driving around the country to bring my 4 bgs but they didn't have room. I'm back down in FL thinking i had my hands on the stuff. Head East!!!! I don't know how far you will have to go

LM,
Thanks, that is about 1.5 hour from my place. I will go next week. All interstate roads except for the last 1+ mile or so.

1.5 hour drive is not bad for $3.95 per bag. My parents said they would ship it but i told them not to worry about it. I just wish my grandparents could have at least brought 2 bags with them. They did have room they were just worried about the weight. Might drive home for a cousins wedding this summer so i might have to grab about 10 bags.

Hey crispcritr,
I'm in Fresno CA and we can get it here but we have to pay shipping on it. It cost us about 17.66 a bag 50lb but the more we buy the cheaper the shipping is. if we get enough people to order agian we can cut the shipping cost which will drive down the total to mabey 10.00 a bag let me know if youre intrested and check with your freinds. This guy in Atlanta ordered lots, and I just bought 500 Lbs from him for really cheap (more than HD though). But I don't mind as I heard SD to be the best choice among all the substrate which also increases your calcium significantly.

jsolomon,
Southdown is just aragonite sand. Southdown is actually the company name, and the sand is sold as tropical playsand. It is the least expensive way to start a DSB if you can locate it. Since sand is so expensive, we try to help each other out by letting them know about good deals, and what has worked for us.
Most of Southdown's (I guess you would call them gravel pits) are on the east cost, and it is fairly common there. The further west you go, the more expensive it is to ship, so not many Home Depots carry it that aren't near the east cost. I have had a hard time finding in western PA.

We can order any amount the last one was only 5 bags but the more we order the ceaper shipping is. At 5 bags it comes out to $17.66 per 50lb bag. But iif we ordered a pallet the shipping per bag cost would be much cheaper.
