First, a disclaimer: I am not blameing my wife for the following story.
So I've got a five day trip away from home. On day one I get a phone call saying the seahorse is dead.
That really sucks, he was fine the night before. Eating and happy....very disappointing and quite the mystery.
Day Two: The Lion (different tank) is dead. Ok, this sucks to but is not entirely unexpected. This poor guy had been wasting away for months now from a mystery affliction. but with the loss of the pony the day before, I'm no longer enjoying my trip.
Day Three: Here is the one that absolutely kills me. My 6 month old bamboo shark, raised from an egg, apparently jumped out of the tank while my wife was at work and suffocated on the floor. She found him hours later.....

Of course, my first thoughts are "What the hell are you doing to the tanks!"
Fortunately day 4 and 5 were fish-icide free. Now I am back and just staring into my big tank that has a completely different feel to it now that the pony and shark are gone....don't need the sea fan pieces (hitching posts), don't need all that shrimp and krill in the freezer (shark) or the mysis (horse).......
I may get ponies again...but I'm having trouble thinking about another shark. Snoopy (the shark) was unique in that he hung out in the open all day. No hiding in caves. He was very social and active........hard to replace that kind of personality..

just thought I'd share.
