Ive had him for four days, and am already so attached to him! he is 5 months old, and is already hand tamed, and loves sitting on my finger, and chirping.
Any other bird lovers, i am a new one, but me and my wife LOVE him!!!

He hasnt been very noisy so far, he chirps every once in a while, but nothing bad. Im sure once he learns to whistle and talk he will be alot louder, but were fine with it! Were both young so we dont mind a little noise. He's so much fun, he pooped on me 3 times today! hahaha

He's a cinnamon pied cockatiel.

Cockatiels are by no means the loudest birds (If you ever don't like someone - give them a conure!! ;) ) (mostly kidding)
I LOVE tiels, mine had babies when i was younger and I handraised them, they're a lot of personality in a little package, congrats!!
What have you named him?

1 thing ive noticed is that birds dont usually make noise unless there is another bird around.

I agree!
Cockatiels rank low on the nosie scale. Conures have a shrill, high pitched squawk that will really grate on you. If you want major noise go with the large macaws or cockatoos. We used to have a couple of amazons and they could wake the dead if they got on a screaming jag.

Must not have been around many birds

IME Birds like to make noise when the sun rises.
Birds like to make noise when they are lonely
Birds like to make noise when they are happy
Birds like to make noise when they are sad
Birds like to make noise when they are hungry
Birds like to make noise when they think they are being ignored
Birds like to make noise when the sun sets
Only time I have ever had a bird be quite is when the room is dark and they are asleep.

you want a loud bird??? my parents have two parrots, a umbrella cockatoo and an african gray... at dawn and dusk they SCREAM bloody murder for about 2 hours straight. you can literally hear them from all the way down the street. it feels like drilling holes in your head.

this is kitty the umbrella.

good luck with the tiel... when i was young i let my dads out of the front door by accident, he spent the whole day walking around the neighborhood calling for it. i still feel bad about it.

Congrats!. Very Beautiful bird, I had to say that, My wife is looking over my shoulder and noticed Kramer looks identical to our Rodney. I wish the camera was working I'd take a pic. We got Rodney when he was 6 weeks old.
My wife had a parakeet that was about 8 or 9 yrs old and we came home from work to find he had passed away, She cried most of the night. I decided about 2 days later that I couldn't take it any more(she was breaking my heart moping around staring at the empty cage) so I came home with a cinnamon pied cockatiel, we called him Fred. Turns out Fred was Fredina and imprinted with me but would bite the crap out of my wife. We waited almost a week to give Fred a chance to bond with her, but no dice. So back to the breeder we went, After almost 2 hrs with all the babies Rodney decided he belonged to her. We've had him for almost a year now. He talks up a storm, whistles and calls the dogs and is truly my wifes baby. Rodney is definitely a treasured member of our family.
I hope Kramer becomes that for you

Congrats. Cockatiels are very loving birds. They really like your attention so make sure he/she gets plenty and make sure to do a little research on some of the bird forums about proper diets. So many time we think they can survive off of just seed.
The last cockatiel I had was getting cozy sitting in my hand and laid an egg. Freaked me out. Like I said, they are a very loving bird species and enjoy lots of interaction. Enjoy.
