I got an anemone! To bad it's aiptasia.

There is a tiny piece of live rock lying on the sand bed with a VERY tiny piece of aiptasia or maybe majano, I can't tell, I just know it is clear and VERY tiny, on it. It is alive and well, very responsive to sudden movements, it contracts. So I never noticed it before now, so I was thinking that I could suck it up with a turkey baster and then kill it before it spreads. Is this a good plan, or is there a better way? I was also curious what the chances are of there being more. I'll be on the lookout, thanks in advance for responses.

You sure it's not a small feather duster? I have several of those that came with my live rock that are mostly clear and retract with sudden movements, etc. Do you see a small tube on the rock or what looks to be an opening from the rock just below the subject?
If it is aiptasia I would check the FAQ threads on how to get rid of that but have heard injecting with the Juice is effective.

Well, if it's aiptasia and it breaks off as you are trying to suck it up all the small fragments will regenerate and grow into new aiptasias. You’ll only help the aiptasia to asexually reproduce in your system by breaking it up and spreading it around.
To get better results inject joe's juice or kalkwasser directly on it or you can try your luck with a peppermint shrimp. They are known to eat aiptasia (mine does). If you choose to go this route be aware that there are two general species of peppermint shrimps that are sold to the hobby. The first is lysmata wurdemanni and the other is lysmata californica. The latter is characterized by darker more pronounced banding and this species is NOT the one you should expect to take care of your aiptasia.
Do a quick google search for images on both and you'll be able to differentiate one from the other. Good luck.

Well, it is fairly tube shaped, but it looks as if the feelers are on the outside edge and go around in a circular pattern. It's really really small. Anyway, I took it out and threw it away. I like peppermint shrimp, so I did research them a bit and may get one, thanks for the advice.
