If you had Ich before in the tank, and did not allow your tank to run fallow, the Ich has been in the tank the whole time.
That's why medicines don't work.
Cold water can in no possible way create Ich. A water change might have stressed the fish, allowing them to become more vulnerable.

yes lower your salinity to 0.009 or use copper treatment. Dont use copper w/ inverts
This is correct. In your case, You can use the Kick ich to help keep the ich off of the fish while you cycle a quarantine tank. You cannot treat in the display. You can never use copper in the display and you cannot do hyposalinity there because you will kill off your pop population for your mandarin. The mandarin does not need to be treated but your other fish all need to be removed. You can treat them in the quarantine tank and keep them out of the display for six weeks. This will interrupt the parasites life cycle and they will die without a host.

I bought this "reef safe" stuff from seachem that smells like hot sauce that I'm using as preventative now.
This also isn't a cure, it's a stop-gap while you can setup a real treatment. People just don't believe that these products don't cure anything, which is a real shame. Kick-ich is also not a cure....
Your best bet is to follow sepulation's advice, trust me.

thanks for all the help guys ill have a quarantine tank set up this weekend
Wonderful, be sure to cycle it before adding the fish in. Dealing with a cycling qt with ill fish in it can be quite a chore. It is best to cycle it before they go in. Let us know if you have any questions.

Beth's thread at the top of this disease forum has instructions on how to set up a QT tank and treat Ich.

If your tank is fish only, then you could possibly do hyposalinity in your display.

I am not seeing corals posted, but he does have a mandarin. I don't think it would be a good idea to wipe out the pod population that is so needed by the mandarin. JMO.

If you sell him then do the right thing and tell the person that he just had ich. I, personally, think that it is the kick ich and the life cycle of the parasite. It is in no way, whatsoever, gone from the tank.

I wasn't planning on keeping it a secret. if i do sell it what are the chances of them getting ich if they don't have a quarantine, could they give the fish a freshwater dip just to get it off the fish (if that even works)
the main reason i want to sell my fish is so that i can get rid of the ich and not kill my two fish

Ich is already in your tank, my friend. Getting rid of that fish will not change that. If he eats all of the mandarin's pods, then I can see why you would want to get rid of him. Don't do it because of ich though. A fw dip does not guarantee that all of the parasites will detach. Often times they do NOT all detach. They will have to qt the fish.
