Well I went to the airport and picked up my live rock ! It was sent from Florida packed in seawater , wht should I expect in the next few days ? I'm guessing a jump in ammonia and some water changes right ? :)

You are definately going to have an ammonia spike. Dont put it directly into an established tank. Where did you buy it from?

As Jimmy said there will definitely be an ammonia spike. for example I just added 25 lbs of L/R and the ammonia , nitrates, and nitrites jumped through the roof but you can buy a product called Cycle and it will make the cycling process much faster.

Cycle has mixed returns from users. If you have plenty of time (as you should) and want to do things the orthodox way just let it go about its business by its self. Cycle introduces bacteria into your tank, for some it works, but several people have had results ranging from disaster, to no visible impact. I suppose if you want to be on the safe side the fewer things you put in your tank the better if you are concerned. Personally it worked for me, but I dont have the years and years of experience that some of the other people who didn't like it have had, and if you are going to base a decision on other peoples' preferences, go with someone who has seen the lasting impacts of any additive or technique over the long term..

i just added 45 lbs of aquacultured live rock directly out of the box with only a saltwter bath(about 5 minutes of soaking in saltwater)--i added sautrday at about 2pm and no increase at all in my tank ecept i beleive nitrites(.25)--ammonia didnt raaise at all--ordered from tampa bay saltwater and the product was great--very happy with my rock--it has some very interesting creatures in it--just my experience about adding to a cycled tank--so see, everyone has different opinions and experiences, you just sometimes never knoiw what will happen :)
