I got my new RO/Di today..... :)

Ok so I just got my RO/DI today

and had a few very basic questions for everyone.................
The unit is a Purely H2O 5 stage system... about 50-75GPD unit,
1. How many gallons should I let run through before I start to save it for my tanks?
2. Is the water temp. that goes in play any part on what comes out?
3. I tested my tap water and it was at 64ppm and the first glass that came out of the RO/DI was 1ppm so how long should I expect my filters to last before I have to change them?
4. Would it be better to run this a little everyday or to fill up large containers and just use it once every 2 weeks? (Don't care about time just what is better for the unit and water quality)
5. Is there such a thing as to much pressure for the unit, I have to regulate my local water pressure to 90psi, if I put that into the unit does it hurt anything or change water quality?
Any help would be great.....................................

1) about 5 gallons will be fine
2) The only problem ive ever found with water being too cold was the salt wouldnt mix as good.
3) You should have at least 6 months, most likely a year before you need to change filters, unless you use it for other stuff, likedrinking and Ice ect....
4) Shouldnt matter
5) Should be on your instructions that came with your unit as to how much presure it can handle, but mines hooked up to our city line and has about the same presure as you, w/o a problem for a yr. now.

yea i got mine today also, the only thing i noticed that i have a question about is that the water coming out is alittle warmer then what i have the faucet at, is this normal? should i make the water out of the faucet alittle colder?
and the manufacturer of the ro/di unit says i should get 3g of waste to 1g of ro/di and i have been getting 2g waste to 1g ro/di is this cause to worry? am i doing something wrong?

The book says it works best with "at least" 60psi it does not have anything about to much pressure. I am sure that there is to much but I think the 90psi should be fine. The one thing that I noticed is I have a pressure gauge hooked up just before it. This has been on the line for a long time and it is at 90psi. I had to regulate it to get it below a 105psi. (crazy pressure where I am at, the RO/DI has a pressure gauge and it reads 80psi. probably because it is on a "y" on the input and the fact that it is not a sealed line. I mean when the water is going in, water comes out, nice and clean, .
I plan on heating the water before I do my water changes but I read somewhere that colder water makes the unit produce more waste and that the ideal temp. for it was 80.... Could have been wrong but got me thinking, it's 30 degrees outside and I am using the cold water line. That water is probably on 40-50 degrees. But makes a darn good glass of water...

It does make good drinking water, mine has a 6th stage on it that is purely for taste, i think it has crushed coconut in it or something like that... Tastes great though!! And Devil Boy im not sure about that, i have mine hooked directly to a waste line so i have no idea how much waste it makes. Sorry, wished i could help more.

Yeah, I read that too, the warmer the water, the less waste water, which is a good thing, specially with what my water bills have been!

No wonder I produce so much waste water!! I use the water hose so the water is always cold. I will run it to my garage sink and see if that helps. I had a big water bill the first month of using it but I was having a lot of issues. The last water bill was fine. This summer will be a bigger issue when I uncover the pool and start using the sprinklers.
