I Hate Usps!!!!

okay...so I decided I wanted to jump the gun and purchase some coral....so TeresaQ had some nice coral and she sent me some pics. and I LOVED them. I chose 2 red shrooms, 2 watermellon shrooms, zoas, and yellow polyps. They were mailed out Tuesday Fed-19-2008 2nd day priorty mail. They were to be here today....so I called my local Post Office who are little bright rays of sunshine in the morning (actually they sound like they could come through the phone and kill you!) that's how friendly the USPS is. And I was informed that I had no package....little upset but I decided to call USPS and see wtf was up. I get a customer rep. that sounded like a 65 year old woman who apparently had smoked like a freight train since birth. And she proceded to tell me that she can't track my package and had no idea when I would recieve it. So she told me if I don't recieve my package after 21 business day that I could start my "insurance claim" and immediatly told her that if I didn't get my package today everything would be dead and I wouldn't need 21 **** days to start my claim.
NO MORE USPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry...but I needed to vent!!!

i work in logistics (or did until oct)
most reliable= DHL
then= Fed Ex
then (
) UPS
and lastly, the USPS.
the USPS is a govt approved and supported monopoly, therefore no matter how much the service sucks, nobody else can touch them (at least for letters).

Oh I don't blame you at all. When I lived in Hawaii my mom sent me a 3 day priority care package. She also sent a box just regular mail. In five days I got the regular mail... In three WEEKS I got the 3 day priority.
Ever since then, (12 years ago) I NEVER have used USPS for time sensative material. I have found through many many shipments that Fed Ex is best, UPS is second best and that other new company DHL or something like that, is simply OK, but costs to much to bother with.
HTH in the future.
Sorry bout your shrooms, but they just might still be alive after 21 days. I can't kill them suckers when I try!

Really?? DHL you'd rate the best? Maybe they've come a long way in the past couple years.
I haven't dealt with them since they were fairly new.

WOW! I can't believe the regular mail was faster than priority...not to mention you pay more for priority....
Anything but USPS from now on!!!

i only use usps for sending out cheato. corals of mine will never enter their system. any of the others are ok with me, especially because i get everything shipped to my work address. overnight is the only way to go 90% of the time.

i know this may not speak for every DHL guy out there but the one who delivers in my area will throw the box at your door from the street. Has happened to me 2 times already. I didn't see him throw it but i did hear the loud bang on my door and within 2 seconds the DHL van was driving away... Kinda hard to cover 20 foot of yard and get in a van and close door put in drive in 2 seconds so he had to have thrown it.. Open door and box is laying there on its side with a dent in one of the corners... wasn't anything fragile so i just lol'd it off.
Then it happened again few weeks later.
I shipped a viper clip on light fixture via fedex not to long ago and the box arrived with a hole in the box and the bulb was broken. Submit insurance claim and was told that during there investigation they couldn't find that the item was damaged while in there care... took me a few weeks but then eventually honored the insurance.
i think i just have bad luck .

I don't hate USPS quite so much anymore! My package arrived and everything is alive and thriving. TeresaQ if it wasn't for your supreme packageing on the coral I would have missed out on some great coral!
Here a few pics. everyone!!

I highly reccomend her to anyone wanting some amazing frags!! A+++++++++++++++

I've been in the same boat before... I once ordered some chaeto that arrived over 3 weeks after it was shipped. All I got was a bag of sewage.
Another time, I had something (not fish or coral, etc) arrive over 6 months after they shipped it.
It's funny... you look at the government run USPS... then compare that to private industry UPS or FedEX...
... and people think government run healthcare will work.

I also have had problems with DHL, They thew a package on my porch from about 15feet away, I was in view and saw the whole thing he's just lucky I had a baby and couldn't get out that door fast enough.. I called and made a complaint because they broke my item and then I called the company that shipped it to me and informed them what had gone down and they replaced it free of charge... Stupid DHL

That is way out of line! There's no reason they couldn't have walked the 20-15 feet to people's porches and place the box on their porch. I really like the UPS and FedEx people that deliver to my house. I live in a nice well secured area and I guess they feel safe. I always have them places packages inside my house with no problems. I can't say anything in behalf of DHL I think they delivered to my house one time..

USPS did that same thing to me last summer 3 TIMES in a row. I had been ordering stuff from multiple clothing companies and everything was coming in the same week. Most UPS/FedEx but LL Bean for example sends out USPS. First package was left behind my SUV on the driveway. If my hubby had not come home that afternoon I would have backed over the package in the morning. 2nd package was left half way up the driveway and the package being a dark green *baggy* I could have missed it completely, but we got home and saw it by accident. AND the 3rd and last one a day later.. USPS left the package on the right side of my SUV on the driveway.
It goes without saying that USPS received 3 very angry complaint calls from me and I even left a note in our mailbox for the mail carrier to *kindly bring all packages to the porch and NOT leave them on our driveway*. Our house is about 150 yards from the road and if you've already made the effort to drive up, finish the job! Since the complaints no packages has been left on the driveway, but a few has on our porch stairs (the first step). DUHHHHH!
Anyways, I'm glad you got your shipment.
Question: If it was sent for 2nd Day Priority, didn't you have a tracking number? If my memory serves me right, anything but the standard shipment with USPS gets you a tracking number.
DHL: absolutely the best for international shipments. FedEx and UPS will sit in their custom cages, DHL will deliver faster.

Yeah I did have a tracking number. But.....the only info it had on the website was when the package was recieved at the post office, and then later that day when it was at the Tampa post office and was not trackable after the 19th.
The Lady I talked to on the phone said those packages wern't trackable. I told her I had a tracking number and the info said that it was still in FL.
Oh-well lol I got my frags and they're looking great!!

Do your research before shipping stuff, priority mail is 2-3 not guarenteed and delivery conformation is not tracking, it just tells you when it got there, if you want overnight guarenteed you need to do fedex or ups, usps can go some places overnight but they are all shipped through fedex planes and if there's too much fedex stuff it gets bumped back. You pretty much have to figure out which company has the best drivers in your area, for me it's fedex and ups although neither have a hub in my town so if it doesn't make it I have no way to get it.

I have rarely had a good experience with FedEx. Oddly, I have used USPS many times to ship and receive with nary a problem. UPS has been generally pretty good. Have only used DHL once or twice. FedEx has terrible customer service.
