I have a new nephew... what to buy as a baby gift?

Well, I had a new nephew on Thursday and I need to buy a baby present. I'm pretty excited as I love more babies in the family... as long as they're not mine.

I want to order something online and just have it shipped to my brother's house. Any suggestions?

and baby clothes are always safe too. Anything boyish that fits I guess. Must be cool. Is it their first one?

Baby clothes --- yeah I'm a guy... but with a new daughter you can never have enough baby clothes or onesies.... only takes one time getting sick and you go through clothes like mad.

Yeah I know... but then again if I get something like a blanky or a stuffed animal, the baby will have it for more than a couple months. Or maybe something for his room...
Now that I think about it, I should get the 2 yr old a present too so she doesn't feel left out.

Is it just me or is giving EVERYONE a gift getting out of control?

I'm not sure I'd describe it as "out of control"...
It may not be necessary or expected but why not? My niece is awesome and super cute... if I can get her something that makes her smile, why not?

I didn't mean you in particular.. nothing wrong with baby gifts :)
I just mean in general or maybe my sister more specifically. She has 3 daughters.... they go to about 50 birthday parties a year... umm thats EVERY weekend almost... buys everyone shes every met a present.
ALMOST makes me feel bad not getting my wife anything for XMAS or V-Day... but then if we want something we just go buy it anyways.

I hear ya... with birthdays in general I wouldn't buy gifts for all the siblings.
But for new birth you want to make sure the older child isn't resentful and sees this event as a fun celebration. I think it can be hard for a 2 year old to see the new baby get all the fuss and attention from everybody... including the parents. But as far as regular birthdays, I'm with you.

Yeah I'm with you now too.. should be a happy occasion.. I'm a scrooge sometimes.
Even though I did skip on the wife for XMAS and V-Day... I did get her a mothers/family ring 2 weeks ago.. which kinda counts for both I would think.

Yeah, I would go ahead and start him off with a 75 gallon...to get his feet "wet".

You can't go wrong with bathing stuff...like little baby towels with the hoods, baby soaps, wash rags and a little duckie.
I usually make baskets like this for my family members.

Take him to a tigers game and buy him the finger. I can't wait till I have kids and take them to their first baseball game and buy them the big foam finger!

get him a birthday bio certificate framed... has little facts about the prices of common items, famous people that share the bday and interesting/significant things that happened...
