I have a ricordea problem

ok this is my upteenth tank as my intro said...
everything in my tank is doing well except my rics are fading and losing tentacles... I had all my fish die a few weeks back due to brooklynella hostillis... Only my rics are doing this... All my water params are solid, water flow is low to med, lights are halides two 250w, four t5 blues, two led blues all for about 6-8 hours a day... Water temp is solidly at 76 degrees, salinity is at 1.022 constant... 10 percent water change weekly... No copper is tank tested for it...
they are at all levels in the tank... And only the orange and blue rics are doing this my all green rics and all blue rics are fine, and I have about 30 types of polyps in my tank that are all fine even the armageddons and pink panthers... I also have several mushrooms green, red, blue that are all ok but not opening all the way... Also I have several hard corals that are good including green caulestria (sp?) and green candy caulestria...
I'm at a loss here

Sounds like they are being stung or some other chemical coral warfare going on...maybe those are down flow of an aggressive coral

I thought that too but they are all over the tank some are evn next to green rics that are doing fine...

yep carbon has been running with a new filter for about a week now

Use a lot more carbon if you can. What I usually do is take some blue and white filter floss and put a lot of carbon in it and then use rubber bands to band it all together. Then I place it in somewhere that the water has to pass all the way through it.
To me, it sounds like some kind of chemical warfare as well. Sometimes a tank can be set up just fine - but you can't get one species of coral to grow in it no matter what you do. Some tanks just have different quirks. But - that doesn't mean that you can't just try to keep carbon running in the system and performing larger water changes. Also, you might want to bump up your salinity a bit more - 1.024 to 1.026 usually does best for most corals. 1.022 is on the low side. What's your alkalinity looking like? BTW... are your lights on a timer?

no my lights are not on a timer since I am home all day... I own a nightclub so I'm only gone at night... They are on from noon to between 6 and 8 each day... I will up the carbon and the salinity a bit... Just drives me crazy! Dang chemical warfare! I shouldve thought of that...

Yeah, try the carbon, but I suspect that the salinity has more to do with your problem then anything at this point. Try it and see what it does! Good luck!

Can I see a pic of your tank? Where are the rics that are doing poorly in the tank located? 250 watt metal halide is a bit much for rics especially if they are up high.

I'm not home to get a pic right now but all my rics are at med to low light (in the lower portions of the tank) and are in med to low flow... Placement is not the problem here... All my rics in every tank have always been in lower protion with high wattage bulbs and done fine... I think the salinity was the problem and have added the right amount but I'm gonna with carbon too... I will try to get you a pic in the morning though... Thanks a bunch for the help...
