What do I need? Its that simple. I need a list of things that I will need for an Icecapp 660. End caps and a reflecter, I know that much but anything else? And any reccomendations on brands? I just need a parts list, It will be put into a custom canapy that isn't built yet lol. Thank you!

You need:
IceCap (Make sure it has the wiring harness)
Waterproof endcaps (3 piece German ones are the best IMO)
Bulbs - URI VHO.
Plug (Pigtail, or I used a old computer cord I cut)
Either a switch or a timer, better off getting a timer.
A reflector is optional, but will help. URI VHO's both have built in reflectors.
Thats it.

I agree with the above.
As a side note, set it up so that the Ballast is seperate from the canopy and yet far from any water spray. Heat is the enemy of this ballast so be sure to mount it on the heat sink that's included with the ballast.

Awesome! You guys rule! When you mean mount it seperate from the canapoy you mean like bolt it to the stand under neath the canopy or something like that? Thank you Again!

just to add to the thoughts, they make an extender for the wired in case the standard length is not long enough. You might be able to make on, but I bought the ICECAP one.

All right, I'll keep that in mind if I have a length problem. Hopefully I won't since it is a smaller tank and everything is close by. Thanks again! Bye!

You won't get enough wire included to mount it low and still have the VERY important drip loop needed to keep water from collecting and running down the wires into the ballast. There is a gap between the plug and the ballast case for heat exchange, and to have water flowing down the wire would send it straight into the electronics. Only mount it low if you have enough wire to "loop it" so that there is a low point for any water to collect and drip from other than into the ballast.

Sorry to kinda hijack the post, but I have an ICECAP ballast question too. When I mount it, could I mount it on the top of my canopy with a peice of styrofoam between the ballast and the wood? That way you won't run into the problem of no drip loop and the styrofoam should insulate the ballast from the heat and the heat will disipate more readily since it's exposed to the air.
Am I right or would this definitely NOT work and should I start thinking of a different plan. THANKS

Be careful on putting insulation next to ballast. This will cause significant heat buildup and could cause fire or premature ballast failure.
