I am wanting to raise saddle back clown fish, but am waiting till i get my 55gal. Now can i have a Blue Hippo Tang, yellow tang, some madarin goby and green spotted goby and maybe some Clarkii Clowns?? Also if this seems like alot of fish.. i am going to be getting this new stuff called miracle mud that u run in a sump system. I talked with a guy that has only 800 gallons running but soon 3000. Well he said that that has got to be the best stuff he has ever used. his corals have never looked so good. He had a carpet anemone that had to be at least 2 feet wide. im not lieing.i was also reading on the site of it and there were baby fish in it and with no care they still lived. The stuff is kind of exspensive but well worth it. So please tell me if i can have other fish when my Clowns have babies.
Thanks, danny
If interested in miracle mud Goto http://www.ecosystemaquarium.com/index.html
Also i forgot to say. U dont need a Protein Skimmer,Filter, and ur corals have a 90% chance of living instead of 50%.

I wouldn't put two tangs in a 55 gal, maybe one but not two, there would definitely be problems between the two. Also keeping two different clowns together is not a good idea, maybe you could if you didn't want to raise clowns but when breeding clowns they really should be the only fish in the tank. And all the other fish would most definitely eat your babies if they have any.

If you were to get 2 different types of clowns you have to add them at the same time. I would not put an anenome in the tank because they will fight over it. I have seen tanks with many different types of clowns in it.

so now what if i didnt get 2 types of clowns and just got another saddle back What would happen.. Just make sure not to put a flat rock under the anemone and just hope they dont have babies. or say they did have babies and it was on the rock. What if i just put the flat rock in like a 10 gallon tank.I know i cant let the eggs in the air but put it in a bag then transfer it. Also i couldnt have a Blue Hippo tang and a yellow tang???????The Gobies wouldnt do anything would they??? Hey Ask me for pics so u can see how my setup is.. my email is Iambeefman88@cs.com
Thanks danny

What if i kind of make it so the tangs cant get to the eggs. and just keep the eggs in the tank for like 1-2 days then i move them into diff tank? would that work??? and the clowns would defend the eggs too.the Gobies wouldnt eat the eggs would they??? Also is it kind of hard to raise the clowns????

nething will eat the eggs it's like brine shrimp all fish love it. im not sure if clowns are hard to raise. im trying to myself.

I dont get what u said last post. Sorry. but what u are saying is that if they hatch in the tank they will get eaten.. Or will the fish eat the eggs when they are on the rock.. But what im saying is if i could make it so that they tangs couldnt really get to them and the clowns would protect them for life. But then like when the eggs are starting to get bigger and the eyes are starting to show on the eggs i could get a big bag fill it with water so that i can transfer the eggs without getting it into air. and then i can start the little tank of clowns.

well you said you had a goby right? they will try as hard as possible to get to them but if you think you can do it then good. another thing is is that a lot of clowns dont like to mate in a community tank. and i wouldnt suggest moving the eggs cuz then they have to be acclimated again and all of that stuff.

There are NO tangs that will fit in a 55 gallon tank, the minimum required space to house the smallest adult tang is a 75 gallon, and I've found that is sometimes too small, depending on it's tankmates and the disposition of the tang. I suggest skipping the tang or going with a larger tank.
