I "offer" to mine a little each day but he decides when he wants to eat. Usually every other day he'll take something and then about every third day the really chows down. I figure he knows best when to eat so I leave it up to him.
Great looking SFE.

I'm not sure what you're feeding your snowflake, but apparently you haven't read any books/articles on them.......if you don't keep him well fed, expect all of your shrimp and small crabs to disappear in the near future.
Snowflake eels are specialized crustacean feeders with teeth designed to crush shell on shrimp, crabs, etc, although we've found them to prefer squid above all else 10 to 1.
Squid can be found at any Asian or Greek restaraunt as "kalimari".
Here's a photo of our "Lover" (it's A'more') whom we've had for almost 5 years...he's almost 3 feet long.
The crab in the photo is a spider crab with a body the size of a golf ball and a 10" leg span.

o've read up alot on eels, i've wanted one ever since i was a kid but my dad never believed that u could have a morea eel. he was more excited about me getting one than myself now that i will finally shut up. There are alot of different oppinions on how much you should feed ur SFE or eels in general and I am still looking for a more generalized oppinion only because whenever i stick my fork in there (my budget feeding utencil) he goes for it looking for food, that's how i determine he's hungry. I feed Loey every day and just wanted other's oppinions.
I have no invertebraes in my 55 except for snails and two horse shoe crabs. I moved the rest out.
