Ummmm, really, I don't know what this quote is all about but...
I have a blue legged hermit cruising around my reef in a small atrea snail shell...I guess the fit was right, and dinner to boot.

I have a scarlet in my astrea's snail shell, don't usually hear that scarlets kill snails for their shell. (Hey I didn't know they took away my angry smiley!)

No, you did not have to continue, just being sarcastic. TriGa22 must of just got back from a visit to the aquarium forumn.
Some of those people just get you worked up.

Actually Hermits will kill other critters for thier shells! Thats why you need to make sure to have empty shells for them to use.
I love it when i see my engineer goby hiding behind a 7 inch high pile of sand , the sand is ofcourse covering up my rics!

Yeah, hermits are good at eating problem algea from rocks, but other than that they're trouble, imo. I'll probably get some of the new tank I put together but unlike the snails, if hermits die, I don't replace them. Down to 2 in my nano after starting with 5 over 6 months ago. I've definitely replaced all the snails that the hermits have killed, regardless of how many empty shells I've left strewn about. My determination is that when they molt, if they can't find a shell close enough to where they're hiding, they'll kill a snail that may be closer.

Yes but I wasn't talking about hermits. they are easy enough to get out of the tank. I'm talking about the ones look like the ones we eat at the restaurant but only the size of a nickel or so.
I'll get the sucker though, I've gotten two of his buddies before. One was an emerald that I put in on purpose
and then caught him nibbling on my Gorgonian polyps. The other was a hitch hiker. This one that I am after now is a hitch hiker too. I am in hunt and relocate mode.

Ah, I've heard horror stories of gorilla crab hitchhikers. Good luck with that guy!
