I use it periodically to take the hair algae off my live rock. The rock used to dull my razors something bad, but the nair works a lot better.
The only thing is that it's not reef safe, so if you have a reef, be sure to rinse it off before putting the rock back in. If you have a FOWLR, you're fine.

Some one is going to take this seriously, I can just see that post now, I used nair to remove the hair algea from my tank, and all my fish died.
When that day comes, I will die, of laughter.

nair sucks. It doesnt work, it just makes the hair shrivel like and it still is there just right at the surface so its actually not even "as close as shaving" . Even the "scented" kind smells like something straight out of a dump. Its nasty! and you cant just wipe it off?! are you crazy? you have to take a shower and scrub to get that smell off while hoping you dont suffer some sort of radioactive trauma worse than Chernobyl.

My sisters used that nastiness back then. You ain't jokin'. Really nasty stank.
Might as well burn the hair off with a propane torch.

Every since I started to go bald (when I was 18) I began shaving my head with clippers without a guard. I decided to try Nair to see how it would work. It burnt my head so bad that I was bleeding when I washed it off. Needless to say, I will never try it again.
By the way, I wouldn't put it on any "sensitive" areas. Rodney Carrington once told a joke about using Nair in a certain area. He said it felt like a midget was following him around with a tiki torch.......
