ok well i'm 18 and i still live at home (i'm working on that) i have a 55G tank and instead of having to go out and buy an RO unit or go to my LFS and buy the RO water i simply tell my mom of my slight issue. now my mom is a chemistry teacher at the local high school (good connection to have haha) so after i talk to my mom she creates a lab for her students involving an RO unit so she gets the funds from the school to order one and now i get free RO water
its great!
just thought i'd throw that in because it made me smile

No the Shop teacher is to busy having his student make new cabinets for his kitchen, the homeech teacher is to busy taking all the food she had her student make out to her car the auto teacher is to busy having his students give him a free oil change and the tech teacher is to busy dowloading illegal music.

Look, the woman came up with a great science project stemming from her child's need to take care of his tank. That is why we have brains....to think of ways to do things to the advantage of everyone.
Its a win-win, imo. Even for the fish! Once Matt has a cool tank going, he can get some pics together to show the kids what a great job their project produced. :happyfish

How does misappropriation of state resources work to our advantage? :notsure:

I heard of a guy who was doing this kind of thing with gasoline for his personal vehicle. It was called "misapropriation of state funded resources for personal gain". He went away. :notsure:

Hey as long as the RO unit is made use by the students than thats cool. Also since Matt is able to use the RO unit then any of the members of that comunity should be able to use it for thier tanks. But I highly doubt that well happen. I have seen the misapropiation of funds when I was in school. Some of thos things I listed in my above coment in jest about the other faculty of the school I have seen. The shop teacher at my school had his students do all his cabinatry for his kitchen and other parts of his house. He did not even buy the wood it was bought by the school. Alright teach kids wood work but how about we have them work with habitat for humanity.

can I ask you if the temperature of the ro matters? Mine seems very cold.
It's only a small amount I'd be adding so wasn't sure if it made a difference.
I was adding regular water with prime before. I just got my first ro the other
day. The water in the tank is wonderful and testing really well so don't
want to screw it up.
Thanks

ours is probably room temp right now. Since we just top off with it, I don't think there is a temp "shock" or anything. At least nobody seems to notice :joy:
