In this particular case "hot water" describes the type of heater.
In a home, there would be a heater for your water. This is a water heater, not a "hot" water heater. That gets on my nerves, too.

Interesting...Here in CA we use Glycol for Ice Storage and or Ice plants never seen it in person used in a heating application....Will have to ask our East Coast or London offices. Makes perfect sense though, and I would imagine terribly more efficiant in cold climates. Here we generally only see Gas, HW or electric heat systems. Additionally I find that Gas fired boilers are the beast of choice.
I work for one of the best flood investigation companies in the country....I have to say I have NEVER seen a flood like that... I would guess it was a welded fitting that gave way in the copper line...Happens alot actually. Better than Poo

sorta like atm machine and pin/vin number...
but yea, it's describing the heating system... there can be hot water or hot air heating systems....
BUT they DO make hot water heaters... they are called booster heaters for turning 140deg water from your water heater to 180 for dishwashing machines.
