When growing salt water plants in their own container (no fish, l.r. etc...) how do I feed them? Is the sludge from the protine skimmer good to add to the water they are in? If so, how often/much? Has anyone tried keeping a salt water plant only container for feeding purposes? calurpa is sooo hard to find i want to propigate it so i always have some to add to the tank once it gets eaten.

unfortunatly I wont have room for one for about a year. That is when i buy a house and get to build a closet to put a bigger tank in and have all the equipment hidden in the closet behind the tank. Then I should have room for all the neat equipment. Right now i am small time with only 30 gallons.

30 hex,
This is just a guess, I've never done it but maybe some others have.
Plants need light, water circulation, CO2 and nutrients.
Get a cheap 10 gallon tank.
Get a cheapo hang on back power filter.
Get a cheapo light and hood.
Get a cheap heater.
Make a cheap tank for growing your feeder plants.
Should be able to pull this off for around $40 bucks.
I would not recommend emptying your skimmate crap into the plant tank.
You may be able to use discarded tank water that is high in nitrates and other nutrients the plants will need.
Not sure - as I said this is just a guess
;)
