What is the best BIO media to add to my sump?
I know I need anothe 5lbs of dry cured rock for my DT,but want to add bio media in a bag in my sump as well. Thanx guys.

I stick with rock rubble. I do have a chunk of marine pure in it as well. Not sure it has been any benefit. I have small pieces in the 1” to a couple that are 4-5”. My sump is a 40 gallon.

Any ceramic biomedia would be much more porous than live rock rubble. Rubble is much cheaper though. Ceramic media can come in forms that easily dissolve, like bright well aquatic brand - id stay away from media that you have to put in a bag.

There was a booth at MACNA this year - I think it was maxspect - they have ceramic media that is very porous and will not dissolve. It's also easily flushed from time to time.

I believe I went with Fluval Biomax. They are waaaaaaaay bigger than when I had a Salt Water 3 or 4 years ago! I was like....wow!!!! Put them in a bag right in front of my return pump.
