I have a 75 gal reef tank now, and have the option of getting a 220gal from someone local.
The tank was set up for 1 year. (looks like new)
their is a oak stand that comes with it.
3 mag 350's
1 ehiem
40 filters for the mags
media 2 gal of charcole
tons of chemicals (he had all fresh water fish)
I wanted to set up the tank with maybe a shark or 2. I also wanted to put in some other kind of fish that would not get eaten by the shark. My wife wants a ray, but i don't know if the shark will eat it.
My big question is what kind of filtration do I need to support this type of tank. And also should I use sand. I thought I read that with the sand you dont need as much filtration. I have a aquaclear 175g wet/dry and was thinkng of using it. I don't think that I should use any of the canisters the guy was selling with the tank. They trap amonia don't they. I know the ehiem is a realy good one though.
Do I realy need a good wet dry for this? do I need circulation pumps inside the tank? and a good skimmer and let the sand do the rest?
Maybe someone could just give me a good run down of a good setup that will work.
What would you think the tank and stand would be worth by it's self? It's all glass with oak trim. the stand is pine stained oak. and it had the glass top and a normal light for it. It's 1 year old.
