i need advice

My friend has recently come to me asking to help him set up a salt water tank FOWLR. he wants a 20 gallon, my question is what is the best filtration for this size tank. he has a budget and any other suggestion you have would be great

tell your friend to get on these boards and study the "101 tips" threads above and then to ask questions to get any other details needed - this will save a lot of time and expense not to mention the disapointment of failures.

and get a bigger tank! There are only a handful of fish that will really do well in a 20 gallon their whole lives.

hes just decided on a 30 i think, i already sent him the 101 tips

A couple of powerheads, proper clean up crew, not overstocking... That and live rock will filter just fine.

You you are lightly stocked, and have a good skimmer and do timely good water changes you really don't need one.
